In 2008, several Utah car fanatics came up with a mission to benefit those in need while simultaneously congregating with other auto enthusiasts and enjoying the scenic byways of the Beehive State. The group set out along the Wasatch Mountains on a warm summer morning to deliver carloads of toys to the Shriners Hospital for Children. Today, nearly 10 years later, the Cars 4 Kids event continues to bring together car aficionados in an effort to collect toys, furniture, and other donations for Salt Lake City's Ronald McDonald House. This year, RST Brands founders Bill and Berkley Apgood had the opportunity to participate in the special annual event. Bill and Berkley decked out their cars with RST and Flow Wall logos that looked truly amazing and purchased several toys that would be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). Furthermore, Flow Wall, a partner of RST Brands, donated three garage organization systems, as well as furniture, to help event staff maintain a comfortable, well-organized, and functional space in the organization's "Magic Room," where children are allowed to pick out a toy or stuffed animal to comfort them during their stay. Along with having the opportunity to represent RST Brands during this charity drive, the Apgoods were also grateful to participate in an event that allowed them to give back to the community and show support to children in need. "This is a wonderful way that we can continue to build our brand name and get recognition while also giving back to our community," Berkley Apgood said.
About the Cars 4 Kids Toy Drive
Though Cars 4 Kids initially supported children at Shriners Hospital, in 2015 they committed their efforts to helping the disabled and seriously ill children and families at The Ronald McDonald House of the Intermountain Area. For the fifth year in a row, Cars 4 Kids has partnered with local sponsors Performance Automotive Group and LUXE Auto Spa to host this annual event. And while each year has sold-out, this year a record 85 drivers participated in this unique function that's geared towards European, luxury, and exotic car enthusiasts. Along with showcasing their cars as they drove through Utah's scenic byways, drivers and their passengers got to display and share their awesome autos with patients and families at The Ronald McDonald House. With a toy drive being the primary purpose of the Cars 4 Kids drive, other donations, contributions, and monetary support are also donated to help comfort children and their families during their stay at the Ronald McDonald House.
For more than three decades, the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Intermountain Area has been providing seriously ill or injured children and their families with a stable, welcoming, and comforting place to stay during treatments at hospitals throughout the intermountain region. With a mission to create a caring, supportive space for families, RMHC is able to help ease many of the day-to-day burdens that patients and their families endure during treatment. By providing families with the support and resources needed to maintain a normal life during treatment for illnesses and disease, RMHC enables young patients and their loved ones to focus on the recovery, care, and support needed to aid in the healing process. As a temporary home-away-from-home, RMHC is dedicated to providing programs and services driven by love, support, and compassion.
