GOAT CHEESE & PEAR, LET'S WRAP IT!
Goat cheese and pear wrapped with Prosciutto—a thin layer of the Italian dry-cured ham served uncooked—is a simple, quick recipe that is certain to showcase your culinary ability even if you have none. This ornate-looking appetizer has a smooth texture and a bouquet of perfectly contrasting flavors which can be switched up to pair well not only with a variety of other dishes but with the seasons as well.
For this particular recipe, I used the 365 goat cheese; however, feel free to play with it. For a little added pop that tastes more like springtime, consider trying Blueberry, Lemon, or Thyme goat cheese. The Gold Pear, along with the Bartlett will provide the best flavor with the goat cheese, but if CRUNCH is your thing, try an Asian pear, which will produce a milder flavor.
PROSCIUTTO WRAP INGREDIENTS
- 6 slices of Prosciutto
- goat cheese
- 1 Bartlett pear
THE GOAT & CHEESE WRAP METHOD
- Cut each slice of prosciutto into quarters, large enough to go around the pear and cheese, but not so big it overwhelms the other flavors (Prosciutto is a lovely salty bite, but you want to allow for that smooth goat cheese taste to come through)
- Slice pear into thin wedges
- Smear goat cheese on pear wedge (just enough to cover the slice of pear, but not heaping
- Wrap prosciutto around pear and cheese
- Garnish with a Rosemary sprig for an extra delight for your senses.
